Q1: Guide to setup an in-network UPS
A:1) For non-solar home circuits:A professional technician with a certificate is required to install the on-grid power system, and connect the wires of critical equipment from the main electrical box to the BLUETTI UPS BOX. When the power goes out, it will automatically switch to EP500 or EP500 Pro for power supply. Connection method: Power grid--home main electrical circuit--BLUETTI UPS BOX--EP500 or EP500Pro--critical equipment (such as refrigerator, electric light, server).
2) Solar powered UPS:- 1- If the open circuit voltage of the solar panels is within the specified input range of EP500, they can be directly connected to EP500 or EP500Pro through MC4 port connectors to build a UPS system.
- 2- If the open circuit voltage of your panels exceeds the input limit of EP500 or EP500Pro, you must pass the "PV Step Down Module" to reduce the voltage before connecting to the system. The connection method is Solar Panels - PV Step Down Module - EP500 or EP500Pro - Critical Equipment (such as refrigerator, electric light, server).
-
Q2: Can I change the working mode of EP500 or EP500Pro to work as a mobile UPS after connecting EP500 to the mains?
A:Yes, you can turn off the EP500 or EP500Pro first, then disconnect the cable on it, and remind to set the maximum network current to 15A.
-
Q3: What is the UPS replacement time?
A:There are two UPS working conditions for EP500.- There is no delay in UPS online service.;
- 20ms UPS standby.
-
Q4: What is the frequency?
A7:- 60 Hz: United States, Canada
- 50Hz: Europe, UK, Australia
- 50/60Hz frequency cannot be switched.
-
Q5: Does EP500pro support APP control?
A:Yes. Once connected via WiFi or Bluetooth, the BLUETTI app will enable you to control the EP500pro remotely, such as switching working mode and upgrading firmware.
-
Q6: What should I do if the solar panels on my roof exceed the open circuit voltage requirements?
A:You can reduce the open circuit voltage by ordering BLUETTI PV Low Voltage PV Modules. It does not require changing the original installation and connection method of your home's solar panels. With these modules, the open circuit voltage of the roof panels can be matched to the input specifications of EP500/EP500Pro
-
Q7: What is the amount of AC and DC loss?
A:- In standby state: less than 10 watts,
- AC_ON & DC_OFF: Less than 20W,
- AC operation and DC operation: less than 25W
-
Question 8: After the stated 6,000 battery cycles, how much capacity is left in the EP500 and EP500 Pro?
A:The EP500 and EP500 Pro can maintain more than 50% capacity after 6000 cycles.
-
Q9: Note on the output power of the split phase coupling function.
A:- 1) There is only one AC outlet marked 4000W/220-240 (or 6000W/220-240) on the split-phase fusion boxes that can power high voltage devices. The other six AC outlets cannot be loaded more than 2000W on the EP500 (3000W on the EP500Pro).
- 2) In split phase connection mode, the total load power of all AC outlets (on the machine and split phase combiner boxes) cannot exceed 4000W for EP500 (6000W for EP500Pro).
-
Q10: Does the separate phase link function apply to one EP500 and one EP500 Pro?
A:No, it only applies to units of the same model and specification. For example, two EP500 units or two EP500Pro units are recommended. Besides, the split phase combiner boxes are also different.
-
Q11: If one of the EP500 (or EP500Pro) devices is out of power, will the phase-separate link function continue to work?
A:If either EP500 (or EP500Pro) runs out of power, the high voltage output ports on the single phase fusion boxes will stop outputting power. The machine that still has power must be manually set to “single phase” mode.
-
Q12: Can I use third-party solar panels and what are the requirements?
A:Yes, you can. However, it must meet:1) Open Circuit Voltage (OCV):
- EP500: 55-145V/20A max, 1200W max.
- EP500Pro: Dual MPPT, each 35-150V/12A max, 1200W max. (2400W max for dual connection).
2) MC4 connector is suitable.
3) We recommend that the solar panels to be connected are of the same brand.
-
Question 13: After opening the 12V 30A DC outlet, can other DC outlets be used?
A:No, for the large current of 30A, other outlets will not work besides the 12V/30A RV outlets. In addition, you must cover the rubber plug when the DC is on and the 12V/30A outlet is idle, otherwise it may cause a short circuit if the cable falls off.
-
Question 14: Are there any restrictions on using the 100W USB-C port?
A:The charging power will only work at 60W at most instead of 30W if the USB-C cable is not 5A MFI certified.
-
Question 15: Why are there limitations on the power of equipment loaded by the US version of the EP500 or EP500Pro in mobile UPS mode?
A:When the EP500 or EP500Pro is plugged into a household wall outlet, the power output will be limited by the wall plug current.
The power of output is subject to:If the outlet in your home is 120V/15A, the power rating of the equipment carried by the EP500 or EP500Pro cannot exceed 1800W.
If the socket in your home is 120V/25A, the EP500's load capacity cannot exceed 2000W, and the EP500Pro's capacity can be 3000W for safety.
-
Question 16: How is it different from the EP500?
A:The main differences are:
1. Output Power: 3,000W of AC power for the EP500Pro, while 2,000W for the EP500.
2. Solar power input: 2,400W for EP500Pro, while 1,200W for EP500.
3. AC input: 3000W for EP500Pro, while 600W for EP500.
4. Output Port: The EP500Pro has another 100W USB-C port.
5. Recharging: EP500Pro supports charging from car cigarette lighter and lead-acid battery, while EP500 does not.
